Comparison
If you??re busy trying to decide if Market is the right choice compared to the hundreds of other e-commerce solutions out there, let me help you out. It is. The above chart outlines just a few main sticking points of each of the three main Wordpress based e-commerce solutions: Market Theme (this one), WP E-Commerce, and the Ecommerce Theme. Each system has their own advantages and disadvantages, but I??d like to take a minute to compare Market to each of them and hopefully convince you to purchase a license.
Reason 1 - Ease of Use:
For starters, Market is dead simple to use. The hardest part is getting the theme up and running - and that will only take 5 minutes of less. Once you??re ready to go, the Market Product Manager (an easy to use alternative post screen which lets you add images, set the price, and set a bunch of other things) will making adding products a cinch. If you can write a blog post, you can add your own products. That means you do not need to be a web design or development wizard - just an average every day user will do the trick.
Reason 2 - Nothing held back:
The guys behind WP E-Commerce got a little upset with me for comparing Market (paid) with WP E-Commerce (free). The reason behind my comparison of Market and the free version of WP E-Commerce is because WP E-Commerce has got to where it is mainly because it is a free plugin. If Market was released for free I could stack up the downloads too. Market may have a price tag behind it, but that??s because nothing is held back. You don??t have to pay for a search function, you don??t have to pay for a grid layout. All it is is one one-time fee and you??re good to go. New items are constantly added to the download center - and you get them all for free. Market holds nothing back.
Reason 3 - Vibrant Community:
Even without being able to promise support, a lot of it has been provided. The forums are packed with useful information that will show you how to do just about anything - so much so that most questions have already been answered.
Reason 4 - Not just a shopping cart, not just a theme:
Most importantly, Market is much more than just a shopping cart or a theme - it??s both. With Market, you get the easy shopping experience and an already designed site - a package most designers would charge thousands for. You get it for $55 (or $150) bucks. Pretty sweet deal huh? Customize the theme as you wish based on your skill level - or just change the logo. Whatever works for you, Market can make it happen. You don??t need to be any kind of genius to get Market to start ringing the sales - just unpack, upload, add products, and cash the checks (or whatever you do with your Paypal money).
