Most intermediate and advanced Wordpress users already know that the default permalinks format in wordpress isn’t very SEO (Search Engine Optimization) friendly, for example if the default format will look something like this: “http://www.yourblog.com/?p=123″ ,when a search engine indexes the post, you score no extra relevance points for the URL.

Instead your URL should look something like this: “http://www.yourblog.com/your-post-title”.
